MEET JEREMY KAUFMAN

Hi, I’m Jeremy Kaufman. I’ve spent over 20 years working as an in-house lawyer—but not just anywhere. My legal career unfolded inside the high-profile, relationship-driven, and famously ego-filled world of Hollywood. From Disney to Fox to Netflix, I learned how to not only survive, but to succeed in environments where people skills often matter just as much as legal expertise.

At Disney, I learned from great mentors how to dog paddle in corporate waters, and at Fox I learned to high dive. Finally, at Netflix, I built and led a global IP team of 44 people across 10 countries, earning awards for excellence and maintaining zero voluntary turnover—even through the pandemic.

If you’ve worked in-house, you know that corporations are complex. They don’t come with a user manual (or sometimes even an org chart!), and promotions or exciting work don’t always go to the most capable. What I bring to my clients is a set of hard-won lessons on how to navigate that world with clarity, courage, and joy.

Yes, being in-house can be really fun.

Why I Started Consulting

After leaving my last corporate job, I reflected on which aspects of my career I wanted to carry forward into the next phase. While solving big sticky problems was fulfilling, some of my most durable accomplishments were coaching colleagues on how to blossom professionally. To carry that forward, I founded this consultancy to help in-house legal professionals grow their careers faster, communicate more effectively, and find greater satisfaction in their roles. I coach individuals at every stage—from law firm professionals making the leap, to senior legal executives managing complex teams or navigating career transitions.

I also offer team workshops that focus on practical, candid skills like:

  • Partnering with business leaders rather than just "lawyering" them

  • Building internal credibility

  • Having the courage to make tough legal calls

A Teacher at Heart

As a professor of Art Law, I specialize in translating complex ideas into real-world strategies. My coaching style blends clear thinking, candor, and a deep belief that with the right support, legal professionals at all levels can do work that’s not only successful—but genuinely fulfilling. Years of teaching and mentoring have taught me how to meet people where they are, spot the roadblocks they sometimes can’t see, and help them stretch, stumble a little, and grow into skills and confidence they didn’t know they had.

A Bit More About Me

I grew up in Urbana, Illinois, earned my law degree at George Washington University, and now live in Los Angeles—unless I’m off chasing snow on a mountain somewhere.
